Project Description
Wagner Noël Performing Arts Center is brilliantly inspired to coincide with Midland’s geographical strata and sky. The 108,000 square-foot structure seats 1,800 audience members comfortably in its multi-use performance hall. The North side wall slants at a 15⁰ angle, requiring Wilks Masonry to create a unique stainless steel anchoring system certified by engineers. This wall angle challenged the installation by requiring the Kimber scaffolding system to be moved at five feet intervals. The East and West walls slope at a 15⁰ angle as well. Every procedure required extensive inspection and documentation throughout the process. Incorporated materials included limestone and Regular Concrete Masonry Units. The limestone was manufactured/extracted from Garden City, Texas. The different limestone dimensions required to course out with multiple window sill sizes. Wilks Masonry was pleased to successfully complete this project with: Boora Architects, Hunt Construction Group, Featherlite Building Products, TexaStone Quarries, TXI/Spec Mix and Cisco Supply.
Date of Project Completion: October 2011
