Project Description
The Dedman Sports Center at Southern Methodist University sits behind the football stadium and the Doak Walker memorial plaza.
In keeping with the Collegiate Georgian Architecture this building utilizes a brick and cast stone facade with block backup. The Copper Domed entry boasts of solid masonry walls with brick on both interior and exterior radiuses. The blended brick was inclusive of water table shapes, rowlock, rowlock caps, stacked, corbelled heads, and basketweave patterns. The rowlock and basketweave patterns are laid both in radial and straight walls. The cast stone was used as column bases, capitals, ½ round column flutes, wall base, belt courses, soffits, signage, window surrounds, cornice and coping features. The interior portion of this project is inclusive of grout solid partitions at the gym and natatorium, partitions, exterior wall backup, and brick columns.
In total DBI installed some 250,000 brick, 65,000 block, and 2,200 pieces of cast stone.
