Project Description
The San Angelo Visitors Center exemplifies an interesting serpentine design.
The base is 250 tons of roughback quarried limestone. The stone veneer of the building and the riverside serpentine wall is 300+ tons of specially blended sandstone. The colors, textures, and dimensions provide pleasant contrast to 65 tons of Texas Hill Country "Old Yella" flagstone that form the massive courtyard walls.
Heavy stone lintels add to the appeal of mass, and brick ribbons train the eye to the curvature of this wall. Cast stone is utilized at sills, lintels, copings, columns, arched trim, soffits, and medallions.
