Project Description
Located just outside of Fort Hood, House Creek Elementary is the newest addition to the Copperas Cove School district. Its entrance is displayed with a series of arches constructed with a cladding of rough-cut limestone laid in an ashlar pattern. The arches are further distinguished with larger cuts of smooth Waterford Stone, matching the cornice decorating the entrance portico. This portico provides a semi-private space for children gathering before school begins. Within the space ashlar laid limestone meets a band of Waterford stone just at a child’s eye-level before meeting a running bond brick pattern above. Full height windows are set regularly throughout the portico space, edged by the Waterford stone. In the interior of the space, these windows are set in a series providing views to multiple layers of wall all clad in the ashlar laid limestone.
House Creek Elementary provides a warm, inviting space to the young children of this community.
Date of Project Completion: June 2011
