Masonry Past, Present and Future

Provider: Mason Contractors Association of America
Discipline: General
Credits: 1.00

Masonry is the oldest recognized building material still in use today. Egyptian pyramids as well as Greek and Roman temples show that masonry can last thousands of years. European buildings of masonry that are hundreds of years old are still functional today, but it only gets better.
Reinforced masonry is still in its infancy and current research introduces new and better ways to make masonry buildings safer.
Although technology points into the direction of the future it is difficult to imagine the road ahead. New design tools are virtually construction projects during the design stage and robotics are changing the way masonry is installed.
