Milford Builder Helps Modernize Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum

A construction company based in Milford, Massachusetts, says it helped deliver a major modernization effort at one of the country’s best-known monuments as the U.S. heads toward its 250th anniversary.

Consigli Construction Company, headquartered on Summer Street in Milford, served as construction manager for a project that transformed the Lincoln Memorial Undercroft Museum, according to a press release from the company. Consigli said it is employee-owned, has been in business for 121 years, and has offices across the East Coast.

For the masonry world, high-profile work at national landmarks keeps the spotlight on the built environment and the long view of construction. Museums, memorials, and civic spaces are designed to last, and their upgrades have to respect what’s already there while meeting today’s expectations for visitor experience.

Even when a project headline focuses on “modernization,” the work still connects to the core mission shared by mason contractors and preservation-minded builders: protecting and renewing the places that carry a community’s history.
