Adjustable Form
Either semi-circular or painted arches can be accurately constructed of wood or masonry in doorway widths from 30" thru 44", with the use of a new arc gauge from Munson Industries Company.
Designed for application by masons, the new arc gauge simplifies the construction of pleasing architectural doorway designs in a fraction of the time formerly required.
Easily handled by one man, the gauge consists of a high-strength steel semi-circular frame, in which eleven movable arms are adjustable to provide 15" to 22" lengths. Wingnuts permit quick adjustment of the arms to intermediate lengths.
In constructing a masonry arch, the desired arch shape is first drawn full-size on a sheet of paper. The gauge is then placed on this drawing, and the arms are extended until they match the shape of the arch. The wingnuts are tightened. Then, a strip of fiberboard or thin plywood is positioned around the radius of the gauge, and the setup is positioned in the doorway.
Because of the independently adjustable arms, the variety of arch configurations possible is virtually unlimited for the imaginative craftsman.

Ball Pein Hammers
A new series of Fiberglass ball pein hammers introduced by Vaughan & Bushnell Mfg. Co., 11414 Maple, Hebron, III. 60034, features an exclusive "hollow core" handle design serving the dual purpose of helping to absorb shock and reducing weight in the grip area for better tool "balance".
Made with continuous, parallel Fiberglass strands reinforcing a polyester resin throughout the full length of the handle -the new tool offers maximum strength and durability. A greater "cross section" of material at the hammer "neck" gives added strength in area where it's most required.
A combination of steel wedge, epoxy adhesive insures a tight fitting head even if hammer is exposed to to extremes in temperature or "treatment". The resin-Fiberglass composition will not rust or corrode, shrink, expand, or crystallize under any climatic conditions.
The Vaughan Fiberglass ball pein hammer is being made available in 8 oz., 12 oz., 16 oz., 24 oz., and 32 oz. sizes.
