IMI Masonry Camp
By International Masonry Institute
The International Masonry Institute's (IMI) Masonry Camp will be held Aug. 11-17 and 18-24, 2007. Masonry Camp is a nationally recognized program that brings together apprentice craftworkers and architectural interns to experience the masonry crafts firsthand — brick and block, tile, terrazzo, stone, plaster, and restoration — and to understand the advantages of craftworker-designer collaboration.
Guest speakers are Monica Ponce de Leon, principal of Office dA in Boston and a professor at Harvard Graduate School of Design; and Jeanne Gang, AIA, principal and founder of Studio Gang Architects of Chicago.
This year, the program moves into its permanent home at the new BAC/IMI National Training Center in Bowie, Md., designed by Stanley Tigerman, FAIA.
