Join Tino Kalayil, Senior Technical Director and Midwest Region Director of the Block Design Collective, for a presentation on delegated design, a project delivery method widely used across many material industries to help deliver cost-effective buildings. This session highlights the need to normalize delegated design for concrete masonry elements, including lintels, elevator shaft walls, non-load bearing walls, and load-bearing structures. This course will explore how delegated design can be delivered within today’s projects and review available resources intended to minimize the effort required for implementation. Attendees will gain an understanding of the delegated design process as it applies to masonry building structures; examine typical shop drawing submittals and supporting calculations; review common performance requirements specified by the engineer of record in bid documents; and consider the overall benefits of delegated design for both project teams and the concrete masonry industry.
