A 51-year-old man of Albanian origin was found dead at a construction site on Via Goito in Padua, Italy, where a building renovation was underway. The man reportedly fell into an elevator shaft and died from his injuries, according to initial information.
The victim was described as the owner of a Vicenza-based bricklaying company. His family raised the alarm after they had not heard from him since early afternoon. His van was later found parked near the building, with the trunk still open.
Padua police entered the building after the alarm was reported. Officers rang the man’s cellphone and followed the sound to the elevator shaft, where they found him lifeless. Emergency medical services and firefighters responded, along with investigators from the Padua Flying Squad and forensic police.
