After more than three months of construction, the new Kaukauna Middle School is taking shape, with masonry walls now going up on site.
Drone footage shared with The Post-Crescent shows the grade-level wings and the main front of the school taking form. The front of the building includes the entrance and outlines of interior spaces, including music and tech ed classrooms.
For mason contractors, this stage of a school project puts a spotlight on layout control and clean execution. Wall lines, corners, and openings need tight coordination so door and window locations, classroom dimensions, and structural details stay on target as the building footprint becomes visible.
As walls rise, crews also need to stay locked in on the basics that protect long-term performance, including consistent mortar joints, reinforcement placement where required, and moisture management details like flashing and weeps at the right locations. Those details help the masonry do its job for decades in a high-use building like a middle school.
