India Builder Turns Plastic And Demolition Waste Into Bricks, Citing 50% Higher Strength

India’s construction boom is bringing a familiar problem into sharper focus, more building activity also means more plastic waste and demolition debris. Angirus, an India-based company, says it is responding with a recycled brick product called Wricks, which it reports has already been deployed in more than 400,000 units nationwide.

In an interview with Construction World, Angirus cofounder and CEO Kunjpreet Arora positions Wricks as a response to the tradeoffs contractors and developers weigh when they look beyond conventional clay bricks. The company points to widely used alternatives, including AAC blocks, fly-ash bricks, and concrete blocks, and argues each comes with limitations that can complicate performance, sourcing, or resource use.

Wricks is presented as an attempt to blend sustainability, performance, and economics in a single masonry unit by using recycled waste as a key input. The company also claims Wricks is 50% stronger than conventional bricks, a headline number that will naturally catch the attention of teams responsible for masonry scopes, schedules, and quality control.

For mason contractors, recycled-content units can create new opportunities on projects that are trying to manage waste streams and document material choices. At the same time, any new unit with a strength claim should trigger the same jobsite basics: ask for clear test data that supports advertised performance, confirm where the unit is intended to be used, and make sure the supplier’s guidance aligns with the wall assembly and detailing the project requires.
