Napoleon Public Library Exterior Renovation Continues With Masonry Work

Work is continuing on phase one of a renovation at the Napoleon Public Library, with the focus on exterior improvements to the library’s Carnegie building. The scope includes a new roof along with masonry work, according to the project update.

The contract for the phase one work was awarded to Mel Lanzer Co. for $885,050.

For mason contractors, exterior upgrades on older public buildings put the spotlight on water management details that protect the wall assembly. Coordinate roof and masonry scopes so flashing and termination points land cleanly, and avoid rework once new roofing is installed. Document existing masonry conditions before repairs begin, then match mortar color, joint profile, and tooling so patched areas blend with the original work. Protect adjacent brick and stone during roof tear-off and staging to limit chipping, staining, and abrasion on finished faces.
