Utah Crane Dealership Deal Expands Self-Erecting Tower Crane Support For Masonry Work

Wagstaff Crane, a Utah-based company that started in 1963 with a single crane and a straightforward focus on rentals, is expanding its footprint with the purchase of Bronson Crane, a Potain self-erecting tower crane dealership located in the suburbs of Salt Lake City.

Under the deal, Wagstaff will acquire Bronson Crane’s assets and business functions from owner Earl Bronson. Bronson Crane will continue operating under its existing name, and the business will run out of the Wagstaff Building in Murray, Utah, according to information provided by The Manitowoc Company, Inc.

Bronson Crane has been a Potain self-erecting crane dealer since 2008 and has been the country’s top dealer since 2011, the release said. Over that time, the company built relationships with key customers and became “a leading player” in wood-framing commercial construction and the masonry market.

For mason contractors, lifting capacity and jobsite logistics matter on every project, from placing masonry units and reinforcing steel to handling scaffolding packages and material pallets. A local dealership change like this one is worth tracking because it affects equipment availability, service coverage, and training options in the market where crews work.

Wagstaff said the combined operation will also offer NCCCO crane operator training and certification at its premises. Jim Wagstaff said the company has operated many types of Manitowoc mobile cranes across the Intermountain West, and that adding Potain’s tower crane offerings is the next step in expanding services.
