Report of the MCAA South of 40 Committee

Words: Lindsey Stringer

Mission Statement

The mission of the South of 40 is to provide members the opportunity to learn, to become more involved, and introduce a youthful voice into the masonry industry. We will accomplish this by fostering lasting relationships, encouraging new ideas, and educating the leaders of tomorrow with the objective of increasing the masonry market share and ensuring our industry is as solid as the products we promote.

MCAA Webinar Series Brought to you by South of 40

It was presented and agreed upon by the committee last September that the entire MCAA webinar series would be a “brought to you by MCAA’s South of 40” event. This was done in an effort to help us gain that much more exposure. Also, the earliest it appears we will be able to put on the specific webinar topics that were voted on by this committee will be March 2011. We are in the process of securing speakers for these topics & encourage the committee to offer any recommendations for speakers as well.

2011 Schedule of Live Webinars brought to you by MCAA’s South of 40:

Feb 23 — Successful Business
Mar 2 — LEED & Masonry
Mar 9 — Quality Assurance
Mar 15 — Ergonomics
Mar 23 — Stone Fabrication
Mar 30 — Military Construction (MILCON)
Apr 6 — Indiana Limestone

Launch of the South of 40 Webpage

In October of 2010 we successfully launched our South of 40 page on the MCAA website. There you can find some useful (and fun) information relating to the committee. Content like our mission statement, an upcoming schedule of events, copies of past committee meeting minutes and reports, key industry headlines/links, pictures from recent outings, and contact information for our committee members can all be found in this one area. To view, please go to www.masoncontractors.org/southof40/. Also, if you have any comments or suggestions as to how we can improve on this page, feel free to pass it along to any one of our committee members.
