Ash Grove Cement recognized by Wildlife Habitat Council

Words: Jacqueline AmmarAsh Grove Cement Co. announced that two of its cement manufacturing plants received Wildlife Habitat Council certifications. The Midlothian, Texas, cement manufacturing plant was granted Corporate Lands for Learning certification for its wildlife habitat that offers experiential learning opportunities to youth, the community and wildlife professionals. The Foreman, Ark., cement manufacturing plant was granted Wildlife at Work recertification for its efforts to create, conserve and restore wildlife habitats working jointly with management, employees and members of the community.

“We are honored to receive these certifications which recognize our commitment to environmental stewardship,” said Senior Vice President — Manufacturing Mike Hrizuk. “We are proud of our plants’ investment of time and resources in conservation and congratulate them on their outstanding achievements.”

The Midlothian plant was recognized for its wildlife habitat’s many interactive educational programs for youth, nature enthusiasts, and its field trainings for professionals on the subjects of fossils, geodes and botany. The Foreman facility was praised for its employees’ extensive maintenance and enhancement of its 2,000-acre habitat featuring hardwood forests, open fields, wetlands, lakes, ponds and transitional areas, as well as its many environmental education programs.
