Recap of the MC&MCA 50th Anniversary

Words: Renae RogersThe evening of May 4 turned into a reunion of old and new friends looking back on the past 50 years of MC&MCA. An important part of those years was the Excellence in Concrete and Masonry Design and Construction Awards. If you were unable to attend, you missed a great evening!

Barry Blazevic, ADB Construction, served as our ever-humorous Master of Ceremonies. MC&MCA President Kirt O’Konek, Stoneworks Architectural Precast, opened the evening with comments on the state of our industry.

The program continued with Barry Blazevic announcing a series of award winners. Dick Dentinger, B&D Associates, offered an often humorous look back on 50 years of the association, the things we’ve accomplished and friends and family we’ve treasured. Industry greats Ebbie Bulach and Dale Johnson shared memories.

Other early association members in attendance included Jim Mortenson, Gene Gohr, John Palmquist, Orv Omland, John Paul, Karl David, Mike Frantz and Wally Jones.

The evening concluded with the announcement of the silent auction winners.
