window and door frames are of bronze anodized aluminum.
On the upper level are several play areas of paving brick with color tones matching the facing brick including seating benches and tables.
The projection of the bearing walls out past the glass enclosures have created an indoor-outdoor aesthetic, with a deep inset entry to form protection from variable weather changes. All materials selected by the architects were to be "natural" in character, but stimulating in texture and color, free of institutional response.
Hand sculptured brick was designed and carved by members of the staff of the architectural firm and installed in the corridor area at a level to permit children to see and feel the figures.
The sloping brick bearing walls are not only strong visual elements and a means of breaking up the mass of what is a sizable building, they also act as acoustical buffers between the holding rooms and outdoor play spaces.
