TAR-LITE UNIT
Stark Ceramics announces the development and production of a new large unit, light weight, structural glazed tile.
The new unit, trade named Armor-Lite, is a result of many years of research by Structural Clay Products Research to develop a light weight ceramic aggregate.
This SCR aggregate (veri-lite), combined with dense clays, produces a structural clay tile that offers: uniformity of body structure, light weight, dimensional control of finished 8 in. x 8 in. x 16 in. units (1/16 in. tolerance in bed depth), easy cutting, availability of structural tiles 8 in. deep glazed one or two faces and lower ultimate wall costs through easier handling and faster installation.
Full details including sizes, shapes, colors and mechanical factors are available from Stark Ceramics, Inc., Canton 1, Ohio.
ORNER POLE
The Masonry Specialty Co., manufacturers of the "PERFECT" Corner Pole, SCR Corner Pole and other masonry guide systems have recently begun to manufacture and market their "Econo" Corner Poles/Fittings. With this the contractor has the option of purchasing only the fittings with which he may use a 1½ in. are tube, a 14 in nominal pipe size (available at any hardware store), a 15 in. angle iron, or a 1-5/8 in. wood square (one half of a 2 x 4). Or, he may purchase the fittings with a 1½ steel pole, considered best for general use.
These are extremely low in cost, ranging only $11.95 per set of fittings. They are made of durable, and sandblasted aluminum/ magnesium alloy which will resist sking or bending. Because of extremely economical price and compactness, each mason can have a set or a few sets which he can keep right in his tool bag. They are quite unique in that a set of fittings can be used at outside corner, inside corner or intermediate position without need of additional pieces, or even without the need of making adjustments. Being as the fittings are adjustable on the pole part, they can be used for any structure, regardless of height, size or design.
These poles can also be used on solid masonry with the use of "Easy Adjust" Telescoping Braces, also manufactured by the Masonry Specialty Co.
Brochures on these tools, along with a FREE booklet containing tips for increasing job production and improving workmanship, may be had by writing to Masonry Specialty Co., Dept. 101, 172 Westbrook Rd., New Kensington, Pa.
MASONRY SAW
Felker Manufacturing Co., Torrance, California, announces an improved Roto-Set Masonry Saw which features unobstructed pass- through of work pieces 20 in. wide. This eliminates all possibility of contamination of the mechanism from accumulated sludge and dirt. The connecting link between foot pedal and head at the rear of the Roto-Set con- sists of a yoke. Pieces up to 20 in. wide and of any length can now pass between columns and through the yoke without obstruc- tion. Other features include an adjustable cast aluminum blade guard, choice of 2, 3 or 5 hp G.E. motors with No. 12 wiring. Motors are equipped with auto- matic reset buttons. SCAFFOLDING
Masonry contractors who have figured jobs with conventional scaffolding in mind are finding they can finish days or even weeks ahead of schedule by using Morgan Adjustable Scaffolding. For example, Morgen Scaffold ing saved 21% working weeks on an estimated 12-week 255,000 ma sonry contract for the addition to an electric plant in Bethlehem, Pa. It allowed the contractor to put the masons on the scaffolding at ground level and build the full wall without interruption, never having to shift men or material from one level to another. It eliminated the need for the usual scaffolding crew.
Morgen keeps the masons work ing constantly at their most pro ductive level. Pallets of material can be placed directly behind the mason on an elevated material platform. Rehandling of unused material is eliminated.
Complete details, including forms that let you figure the sav ings on a specific job, are avail able from Morgen Manufacturing Company, 160-P, Yankton, South Dakota.
ECONMOBILE
The American Econmobile was first developed in 1954 because of the need in modern construction for a multi-purpose vehicle that could rapidly lift and move hun dreds of supply items in a hurry over a sprawling, often torn-up jobsite.
The 620 has a maximum lifting height of 30 ft. 8 in. with forks. A crane hook increases maximum lifting height to 33 ft. Capacity is 4,000 pounds.
The Econmobile has a maxi mum "reach" of 8 ft. 4 in. (mea sured to heel of fork) which enables it to reach to the rear of scaffold, over ditches, over truck beds and to deliver supplies in tight places. Reach can be in creased by use of longer forks. The Econmobile's overall height of 9 ft. 1 in. enables it to pass through conventional doors and to work inside or outside.
With road speeds of up to 30 miles an hour, the American
