with a squeegee. Excess mortar is mopped off and the joints are pointed. The panel is left to dry thoroughly for a week before being set in position.

Raising and positioning is done with a manually-operated wheeled winch resembling a fork lift. The wooden spacers, which were on the bottom side next to the plywood, are removed and the shallow gaps filled with pointing mortar. The careful drying procedure has eliminated the possibility of cracked joints when the panels are lifted into place.

The glass block panels are held in the openings by recessing the jambs.

and head behind the stone cladding. In addition, steel clips are welded to the structural steel project down at the interior head. The bronze windows also assist in stiffening the whole assembly since they are bolted to the structure and the blocks are set one inch into the bronze channel jamb section.

The basement and main floor of Building One are constructed of poured concrete. The upper six floors are welded steel frame with cellular steel deck floors. The cavity masonry walls are faced with buff-colored Manitoba "Tyndal" limestone, trimmed with blue-grey Quebec "Labradorite" granite. Its dimensions, including the courtyard, are 253 ft. by 207 ft. The six-story tower is 205 ft. by 74 ft.

North and south sides of the upper levels each have 45 panels of the "4 x 12" glass blocks. Twenty-five of these are 32 inches wide by 7 feet high. Twenty of them are 10 feet, 8 inches wide by 7 feet high. There are four panels, each on the east and west sides. These are 21 inches wide by 7 feet high.

The main floor has nine 21-inch wide by 11-feet high panels on both the east and west sides. Five panels, 21 inches wide by 11 feet high, are on the inner side of each wing.

Building Two, which is connected to Building One by an underground gallery 160 feet long by 21 feet wide, uses essentially the same construction except that its steel frame is bolted. Its dimensions in plan, are 140 feet by 119 ft. Both east and west sides have three panels, 32-inches wide by 11 feet high. The south side has two panels, 10-feet and 8-inches wide by 28-feet high.
