Skilled trade hiring remains tight, and Williamson College of the Trades is lining up a direct connection between employers and the next wave of job-ready graduates, including students in its masonry program.
Williamson will hold its fall career fair on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The event takes place at the Joseph L. and Marion M. Wesley Student Center on the school’s campus at 106 S. New Middletown Road in Media, Pennsylvania. The career fair is held twice a year and draws employers from across the country.
For mason contractors and other construction firms, career fairs like this serve a clear purpose: meet candidates face to face before graduation, get a read on professionalism and communication skills, and start building a hiring pipeline for the year ahead. Williamson says the fair is designed to match employers with students developing technical expertise, practical experience, and the professional skills needed to step into the workforce.
Williamson’s model also stands out in today’s training landscape. The college provides a tuition-free education that includes room and board, and graduates earn an associate degree without taking on the student debt tied to many traditional college paths. Students choose from six specialized trade programs: carpentry, electrical, masonry, machine tool technology, landscape construction, and power plant technology.
Contractors planning to attend should go in with a tight recruiting plan. Bring clear information on the roles you need to fill, where the work is located, and what a first year on your crew looks like. After the fair, move fast on follow-up so strong candidates do not get lost in the shuffle.
