Redevelopment is moving forward at the former Vines on Clark site at 3550 N. Clark St. in Chicago’s Wrigleyville neighborhood, after the city issued two demolition permits on July 29 for structures at 3550 and 3554 N. Clark.
Demolition fencing and a sidewalk canopy were already in place when the permits were issued. M-5 Hauling LLC is listed as the demolition contractor on both permits, with a reported cost of $79,000.
As demolition work lines up, a separate permit points to what’s next on the block. A new construction permit appeared in the Chicago Data Portal on Aug. 13 for 3548 N. Clark. The filing calls for a two-story Type IIIA masonry building with a basement, built out for a new general restaurant space. The developer named on the permit is 3546 Hospitality Inc. The general contractor listed is EMC Inc.
A reply to a query on X also indicated Old Crow Smokehouse could be planning to move into the new space once it opens, shifting from its current location one block south at 3506 N. Clark. For contractors tracking the job, the public permitting trail also flags real, street-level constraints. With the sidewalk canopy already in place and alley access visible behind the property, site protection, staging, and deliveries will be part of the day-to-day planning as work progresses.
