Today, the MCAA announced its strong endorsement of The Dignity Act. This comprehensive, bipartisan bill secures our borders, reforms immigration, and strengthens the American economy without using taxpayer funds.

The Dignity Act mandates complete operational control of the Southern Border with enhanced physical barriers and advanced technology. It significantly increases interior enforcement through nationwide mandatory E-Verify and tougher penalties for illegal border crossings and more.

The bill also reforms the asylum system, ending "catch-and-release." New humanitarian campuses near the Southern Border will expedite asylum processing within 60 days, along with increased penalties for asylum fraud.

A key component the Dignity Program offers is temporary legal status to undocumented immigrants in the U.S. for seven years, as well as renewal. Participants must pass criminal background checks and pay $7,000 in restitution over seven years. This program excludes federal benefits and offers no path to citizenship.

"The MCAA believes The Dignity Act offers a pragmatic, fiscally responsible solution to one of our nation's most pressing challenges," said Jeff Buczkiewicz, President at the MCAA. "This bill shows what's possible when you strike the balance between security, our economy, and respect for the hardworking, law-abiding men and women who are already part of our economy."

A significant benefit is a $70 billion fund to train American workers, financed entirely by fees and restitution from Dignity Program participants. This initiative addresses critical labor shortages, supports American industries, and ensures a stable workforce. Furthermore, the act streamlines legal immigration, reduces backlogs for high-skilled employment-based visas, and improves Ports of Entry, contributing an estimated $50 billion reduction to the U.S. national debt.
