Pete Turnbull, Plant Manager of Acme Brick Company's Tulsa Plant (TUP), was recognized as the Acme Plant Manager of the Year (PMOTY) in a recent awards ceremony. In presenting the award to Pete, Ed Watson, Acme's Senior Vice President of Production, stated that Pete deserved the award due to the improvements in several key areas made at TUP in 2011 over the prior year, including: plant profit growth; plant margin growth; change in % recovery of product; and change in man-hours per brick produced. Also noted was the stellar safety record at TUP for 2011 where there were no recordable injuries for the entire year. "Pete exemplifies Embrace Improvement," said Watson.

Turnbull is a graduate of Tulsa East Central High School and attended Connors State College in Oklahoma on a baseball scholarship. His 35-year career with Acme (all at the Tulsa Plant) began in 1977 as a brick packager and he steadily moved up through the ranks and became a Management Trainee in December of 1980. In 1985 Pete was instrumental in the demolition of the old Tulsa Plant and construction of the current facility. He became the Plant Superintendent in 1990 and was promoted to Plant Manager in 1992. He also married his wife, Stephanie, in 1992 suggesting that 1992 was a good year for Pete.
