Field Guide Helps Maintain Quality

Words: Derek SpurlockThe Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute features a guide for field use as a quick reference for allowable tolerances and installation recommendations. This document is ideal for contractors and their installation crews to help ensure they are maintaining the highest quality installation. This simple guide also helps inspectors, landscape architects and other design professionals.

The two-sided guide is laminated to resist the wear and tear of job site conditions, and conveniently summarizes industry recommendations for typical interlocking concrete pavements. Tolerances are in metric and imperial, and include references to ICPI, ASTM, CSA and other guide documents. This field guide is included as part of ICPI's Installer Certification course materials.

The guide is a useful tool for do-it-yourselfers considering pavers for a patio, walkway or driveway. Homeowners can use the guide to ensure the project conforms to industry guidelines. The guide can be printed at no cost by homeowners from the Construction Guidelines and Technical Manuals area of the ICPI online store www.icpi.org/online-store.
