As the construction industry continues to change, so should the ways that standout employees make their way upward in organizations. The MCAA has responded by working with masonry industry leaders from across the country to redevelop the popular Foreman Development Course.

The course is designed to help both newer and experienced foreman evolve and find success in their respective roles. This opportunity will debut on February 7^th at the 2021 MCAA Annual Meeting.

Attendees of the Foreman Development Course do not have to register for the entire MCAA Annual Meeting if it is the only event they are planning to attend. The cost is $250 for individuals who work for a member company and $350 for non-members.

Foreman Development Course Presenters

Jameel Ervin, President, W.B.F. Construction, Inc.
Jameel Ervin is the President of W.B.F Construction, Inc., and serves as the steward and visionary of the $4 to $6 million business. He is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment (emotionally, mentally, and physically) for 25-40 employees. He oversees day-to-day operations including: estimating, crews, finance, and problem solving.

Jameel worked as a Laborer during the summers of 1995-1997, and served in the US Army (“Airborne All the Way”) from 1998-2001. From 2001-2011 he worked as Tuck Pointer, Bricklayer, and Foreman.

Tom Vacala, VP of Operations, Restore Masonry, LLC. / IW&G Joint Venture
Tom Vacala has been with Restore Masonry since 1985, and currently serves as the Vice President of Operations. Currently, he is responsible for overseeing workloads of $10 to $30 million per year with over 100 employees. He directs the supervision of project progression, oversees crew sizes, creates project budgets and schedules, acts as a liaison between owners, architects, and general contractors and aids in estimating potential projects, ordering materials and equipment, the adoption of technology, maintaining a safe jobsite, and developing the company’s next generation.

Tom was born into the trade and has worked as a Laborer, Tuck Pointer, and Bricklayer, and has received numerous masonry industry awards. He is a frequent contributor to MASONRY Magazine.  

Donnie Williams, President, DRP Masonry LLC

Donnie Williams is the President of DRP Masonry LLC. The company currently has work going on in six states: Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Texas, Alabama, and Florida. Donnie currently oversees $14 to $18 million per year. He is currently training his first-born son, son-in-law, and nephew to take over as the fifth generation of the company. His second son, named Samuel Brick Williams and grandson named Mac that will take over as the sixth generation.

Donnie has been a Journeyman Bricklayer since 1993, and is a second-generation mason contractor on his Father’s side of the family, and fourth generation on his Mother’s side of the family.
