Daytona International Speedway Facelift

Words: Chad CorleyOpened in 1959 and arguable the most iconic motorsports facility in the U.S., the Daytona International Speedway did a $400 million renovation to improve the fan experience during events like NASCAR’s Daytona 500. The upgrades included the addition of social areas called “neighborhoods” along the mile-long front stretch, and 101,500 permanent, wider and more comfortable seats. In addition, the Speedway now has 60 luxury suites with track side views and a completely revamped hospitality experience for corporate guests.

B&M Masonry used more than two million pounds of QUIKRETE® Mason Mix Type S Mortar in multiple colors and nearly 130,000 pounds of QUIKRETE® Core-Fill Grout Coarse to lay block and brick on the project, which featured four silos to help manage material and labor costs.

QUIKRETE® Mortar is a high strength commercial grade dry pre-blended mixture of sand and cements specially selected for masonry applications. It meets N, S, M requirements as specified in ASTM C 270 and pigments may be added to match any existing or new construction. Available in 3000 lb bulk bags and 80 lb paper bags.

QUIKRETE® Core-Fill Grout Coarse is a properly proportioned mixture of Portland cement, graded sand, and other ingredients designed to provide a flowable grout requiring only the addition of water. It’s available in coarse or fine versions. Available in 3000 lb bulk bags and 80 lb paper bags.
