Why Buildings Leak Webinar

Words: Mason ContractorsThe Mason Contractors Association of America (MCAA) will present “Why Buildings Leak” on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at 10:00 AM CDT.

While every building consists of a unique combination of building envelope components and construction means and methods, many problems observed in newly constructed facilities share common deficiencies that lead to leakage. This presentation will explore some of the more common mistakes made during design and construction, including deficiencies in flashings, claddings, windows and doors, parapets, roofing systems and other commonly leaking conditions.

At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:
  • Identify common sources of leakage in newly constructed facilities
  • Analyze design oversights that may result in discontinuities in the building envelope and what can be done to identify these problems before construction
  • Discuss quality assurance inspection and testing methods that can reduce the potential for leaks and what aspects of the testing are most important to the construction team
  • Evaluate different recommendations for improving common details found in many construction projects to build in redundancy and improved resistance to water penetration

Mason contractors registered for Masonry Certification will receive 1.50 credits in the Codes & Standards discipline upon completion of this course.

This webinar is free to all attendees. Register for “Why Buildings Leak” at www.masoncontractors.org/live.
