2015 Masonry Institute of British Columbia Masonry Design Awards

Words: Bill AlbrechtThe Masonry Institute of British Columbia is pleased to announce that submissions are now being accepted for the 2015 Masonry Design Awards. The aim of these awards is to showcase beautiful and distinctive masonry projects, and to honour the owners and designers that have contributed to their realization. Architects, engineers, building owners, masonry contractors and masonry suppliers are invited to submit their entries for projects that feature brick, block and stone completed in British Columbia between July 2012 and July 2015. The submissions are due at Masonry Institute of British Columbia office by August 30, 2015.

The winners will be announced at a gala event to be held on Thursday October 1, 2015 at the new Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre at the University of British Columbia. Awards of Excellence and Honorable Mention will be determined by a distinguished jury panel. Unique acrylic and brick trophies will be presented to the winners in the categories of Commercial, Institutional, Mixed Use and High Rise developments, as well as Multi and Single Family Homes. Awards will also be presented for Structural masonry and Renovation projects. Awards certificates will be presented to recognize the masonry contractors and manufacturers associated with the winning projects. During the event reception, attendees will have the opportunity to review the project submissions and to select winners of the People’s Choice Awards.
