OSHA seeks nominations for membership to the Federal Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health

Words: Jesse AhernThe Occupational Safety and Health Administration is accepting nominations for members to serve on the Federal Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health.

The 16-member council comprises eight members representing federal agency management and eight representing federal employees. OSHA is accepting nominations for three management and two labor representatives to serve three-year terms, effective Jan. 1, 2016. Nominations may be submitted at www.regulations.gov, the Federal eRulemaking Portal, by mail or facsimile. See the Federal Register notice for details. The deadline for nominations is May 15, 2015.

Interested federal agency management officials who serve as their agency’s Designated Agency Safety and Health Official, or at an equivalent level of responsibility within their respective federal agencies, should submit nominations for management representative vacancies. Interested labor officials who have responsibilities for federal employee occupational safety and health matters within their respective labor organizations should submit nominations for labor representative vacancies.

FACOSH advises the Secretary of Labor on all matters relating to the occupational safety and health of federal employees. This includes providing advice on how to reduce the number of injuries and illnesses in the federal workforce and how to encourage each federal executive branch department and agency to establish and maintain effective occupational safety and health programs.
