JLG Compact Crawler Boom wins two awards

Words: Melissa AguiarJLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE:OSK] and a global leading manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telescopic material handlers, announced that the JLG® X550AJ Compact Crawler Boom Lift has won two awards — Equipment Today’s 2013 Contractors’ Top 50 New Products and Rental’s 2013 Editor’s Choice awards.

Recipients of the annual Contractors’ Top 50 award were selected based on the amount of reader inquiries and page views over a 12-month period for new products that were published in Equipment Today magazine and posted on ForConstructionPros.com. The X550AJ boom lift, along with the other award recipients, was recognized in a special section in the September 2013 edition of Equipment Today and online at ForConstructionPros.com.

The Editor’s Choice awards recipients were selected by the editorial staff of Rental and ForRentalPros.com based on factors including technical innovation, market utility and consistent audience interest. The judging criteria also takes into account the number of page views and inquiries the nominees received from the Buyers Guide at the portal site, ForConstructionPros.com, over a 12-month period. The winners will be highlighted in Rental’s October/November issue.

“We are thrilled to be honored with these awards as they indicate the interest the JLG Compact Crawler Boom continues to generate among contractors, as well as the rental audience, thanks to its compact, lightweight design and enhanced maneuverability, which put more projects within the operator’s reach,” said Jeff Ford, JLG Industries global product director.

For cleaner, greener operation, the JLG X550AJ features an environmentally friendly quick-start Lithium-ion battery, a market-leading innovation. The battery produces a quick start, no noise, no emissions, no performance loss versus gas power, and no cords for indoor applications while ensuring quiet operation and longer runtime. The X550AJ Compact Crawler Boom’s design also includes a narrow chassis for access through most standard doorways, and a tracked wheel carriage that climbs steps. Due to its low gross vehicle weight (GVW), the X550AJ can be set up on sensitive flooring and landscaping. The boom lift has a 61-foot working height and 21-foot horizontal reach, is highly maneuverable, and fits on a trailer or tilt-back truck for increased ease of transport. The X550AJ Compact Crawler Boom has wide versatility to provide an innovative solution to tough facility problems and challenges.
