ASTM Call for Papers

Abstracts are invited for papers on Advances in Rheological Characterization of Cement-Based Materials. Papers submitted will be published in a special issue of the Advances in Civil Engineering Materials (ACEM). The journal Editor is Leslie J. Struble, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Champaign, IL, USA, and the Guest Editor for this special issue is Kejin Wang, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Iowa State University, Iowa, USA.

ACEM is the premier peer-reviewed civil engineering journal of ASTM International. It covers a broad range of topics relating to the characterization, properties, constructability, performance, and sustainability of civil engineering materials.

The papers in this special issue will focus on recent advances in rheological characterization of cement-based materials.

Suggested topics for papers include but are not limited to:
  • Fluidity, pumpability, thixotropy, and stability of cement-based materials
  • Advances in characterization, instrumentation, and evaluation methods
  • Innovative materials and technologies for concrete rheology control
  • Effects of nano-materials and novel admixtures on concrete rheology
  • Mix design methodology and optimization for highly flowable and semi-flowable concrete
  • Simulation and prediction of concrete flow behavior
  • Mechanisms for the degradations in concrete rheological properties
  • Non-destructive evaluation and in-situ monitoring of concrete rheological behavior

Abstract Submittal Process

A 250 word preliminary abstract should be submitted to Susan Reilly at ASTM by July 15, 2013 via email. The abstract must include a clear definition of the objective and approach of the work to be discussed, pointing out material that is new, and present sufficient details regarding results. It should be clearly indicated in the abstract if the paper is a review.

Publication

After the final selection of abstracts has been approved, the ASTM Editorial Office will invite authors by August 15, 2013 to submit papers no later than November 15, 2013. All submissions are uploaded to our paper submission site. Authors will be provided a link to the Special Issue on Advances in Rheological Characterization of Concrete Materials. All submissions will be peer-reviewed according to the normal procedures for this journal. The papers must not be of a commercial nature nor can they have been previously published, although reviews of previously published technology will be considered. For each accepted manuscript, the corresponding author will receive a copy in portable document format (PDF). All published authors will have the opportunity to purchase reprints of their papers at a nominal cost. The papers comprising the special issue will be published together online. In addition, a print and online collection of the special issue will be published after all papers in the special issue have been published online.
