Report of the MCAA MasonrySystems.org Committee

Words: Mason Contractors

Website Updates

Several updates have been made to the MasonrySystems.org website over the past year. Dozens of new technical notes on brick and concrete block have been provided by the Brick Industry Association (BIA) and the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA) to use on the website.

A new Green section has been added to the MasonrySystems.org Knowledge Base. These resources promote the green benefits of building with masonry to the design community. Jim O’Connor, executive director of the Mason Contractors Association of Greater Chicago, was instrumental in obtaining permission to use LEED and Green content provided by the International Masonry Institute.

The MasonrySystems.org Committee will continue to form partnerships with other masonry industry associations to gather new information to improve the website.

Promotion

The Committee has looked into additional methods of advertising including the development of programs to educate the design community on the value of the website, and training mason contractors and masonry associations on how to use the website.

A cost analysis was performed last year to determine the estimated expense of advertising in other industry publications. Several publications were evaluated and it was determined that donated money could be better spent on site development at this time.

The Committee will continue to look into traditional and new methods of advertising.

Advertising

A new advertising program has been created to generate additional revenue for the website and the MasonrySystems.org campaign. Banner advertisements may be purchased at $500.00 for one year of advertising on the website. Google AdSense has also been implemented throughout the website.

The Year Ahead

The MasonrySystems.org Committee will continue to promote the MasonrySystems.org website to the design community and develop the website to become the top promotional tool in the masonry industry.
