Project Description

The Texas A&M College of Medicine has opened the first building on the Texas A&M Health Science Center Campus in Round Rock. The 134,000 square foot facility offers a vibrant, community-based experience in one of the most desirable places to live and work in the country. The Health Science Center is a cutting-edge facility that fosters an ideal learning environment and promotes an educational experience that emphasizes excellence in intellect, empathy, and patient-centered care.

Thirty months after receiving funding, the Texas A&M Health Science Center (HSC) held its first ribbon cutting. This fast-track project was brought together with classic and stylish masonry design. The exterior skin consisted of Face Brick, Cast Stone and Limestone and was constructed in only nine months. The Architect selected a striking combination of coursed Cordova Creme Limestone with matching Architectural Cast Stone Panels and contrasting Modular Face Brick. This beautiful sequence features 11,000 pieces of Cast Stone, 22,000 square feet of Limestone, 164,500 Face Brick and 20,800 Concrete Masonry Units (CMU). The details and highlighted features include intricate columns and accents, including “Jack Arch” panels over windows. The magnificent, hand-set, rotunda adds a brilliant emphasis and draws your attention to the pristine white Cast Stone columns, sills, ledges, and soffits.

From dream to reality, this building exhibits admirable design and unblemished craftsmanship using stunning native Texas Limestone and impeccably produced Architectural Cast Stone and Face Brick.
