This session is for the tradesman, young business owner or new estimator who desires an understanding of primarily commercial and some residential prints. The program will cover opening the drawing plans, sections and details, learning how to interpret the symbols and graphics, and finding information on the drawings. The use and understanding of architectural and engineering scales will also be covered. The program is intended for individuals who do not know how to read drawings but have just started working with drawings. Some time and attention will be given to identifying and reviewing print reading for those who are interested in obtaining the ACI Concrete Construction Special Inspector Certification.

1. Explore how to open a set of drawings and interpret the language of construction drawings, line symbols and graphics
2. Discover how to use an architect's and engineer's scale related to getting information from the drawings
3. Utilize basic construction math to find areas, volume and lineal footage, used for both estimating and construction building
4. Locate and interpret information on the drawing, plans, sections and details
