This presentation will discuss applications of BIM to masonry that are currently being used in the market today. Masonry models are very effective tools for planning bond, locating special units, figuring quantities, resolving problems in the plans, staging orders, and smoothing out communication between contractors, architects, and manufacturers. The drawings produced from quality masonry models can greatly assist with production in the field. Masonry models are being used today to import directly into the aggregate BIM model for clash detection and other analysis. Several projects will be used to highlight how this technology is impacting today’s high tech market.
