Protecting the building's envelope from fire is one of the most important aspects in the design for
the building for the architect on a project.
This presentation will explain masonry's ability to resist fires and assure safe buildings both
during the construction phase and after completion. Factors involved in the recent rash of
construction fires around the nation will be discussed.
The three masonry systems that have been upgraded to meet codes, resist fires, and boost
building performance and energy efficiency will be discussed.
This presentation meets the AIA requirements for a one hour Health, Safety, and Welfare credit.
