Measuring Resiliency

Provider: Mason Contractors Association of America
Discipline: Codes & Standards
Credits: 1.00

The presentation will begin with a basic definition of resiliency as applied to the built environment. The importance of defining or quantifying two supporting concepts, "serviceability" and "recovery time," will be discussed. A discussion of hierarchical systems will lead to the importance of resiliency at multiple levels of the built environment, from individual structures to developments to municipalities and beyond. Finally, resiliency will be placed into the broader perspective of probabilistic risk assessment.
