Tony Zander, Concrete Engineer for INDOT Office of Materials Management, will discuss with us the INDOT Recurring Special Provision requirements and standard procedures for acquiring approval for SRWs to be used on INDOT Contracts involving concrete modular block retaining walls. There are two types of approval processes; one would be a pretested quantity of product manufactured at the plant and identified as such so the product can be shipped, with final verification by the project personnel prior to use. In mid 2009 INDOT prepared a Construction Memorandum, which clarified the verification procedure to be used by INDOT project personnel. The second is a job site sampling and testing of units delivered to the job site.
