Immigration Reform and I-9 Compliance for the Construction Employer

Provider: Mason Contractors Association of America
Discipline: Ethics & Business Practices
Credits: 1.00

Immigration enforcement has shifted from worksite raids to paper audit, but that makes it more expensive for more employers. This course covers best-practices in I-9 compliance; how to fix defective forms legally; how to set up a simple but workable, tickler system; how to conduct a self-audit before the government shows up; how to prepare for an ICE audit; and what to do after an audit.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Prepare and use the new I-9 form correctly and avoid obvious compliance errors
  2. Recognize and correct I-9 defects
  3. Conduct a self-audit of I-9 compliance
  4. Review whether or not to enroll in E-Verify and use it correctly
