Many practitioners perceive masonry as a difficult material to engineer. The assemblies are complex, the codes are unfamiliar, and the tool support is not as good as it is for other systems. The latest version of NCMA’s Direct Design Software is a significant step in reversing this condition.

This webinar will overview the abilities of this program and demonstrate how it provides full-building design in a single package that automates the entire engineering workflow: Load calculation, analysis, design checks, and creation of drawings. This allows the user to quickly produce an engineered design for a building which can then be used as the basis for an estimate. By extension, it also allows rapid experimentation with alternate design options (e.g. different block sizes) so the effects of such changes on the final design and cost can be determined. The program produces a much more economical design than the more approximate approaches often used for estimating early in projects.
